MrSteam

Mr.Steam traces back to 1917, when Arthur Sussman founded the Automatic Steam Corporation in midtown Manhattan and built one of the first electrostatically-powered industrial steam irons for the garment factories on the Lower East Side. The company spent the next several decades building steam power for shipyards, commercial boilers, and hospital autoclaves before Jay Wilsker, president in the late 1960s, launched a new division aimed at bringing that same steam engineering into home and commercial bathrooms — the company has called itself "in the Feel Good business" ever since.

Every Mr.Steam generator is still designed, built, and assembled in the U.S., out of the company's Long Island City, Queens headquarters, and carries UL certification. The current lineup pairs those generators with iTempo controls and AromaSteam heads that pump scent directly into the steam, turning a daily shower into something closer to a home spa.

In 2024 the company expanded beyond steam into saunas, building cedar, aspen, and spruce rooms across three collections, and its SteamPod takes that same idea furthest — a freestanding, tool-free steam enclosure that plugs into a standard outlet with no construction or plumbing required, for indoor or outdoor use.
